Stornoway Gazette, 23 January 1942
Two Lewis naval reservists who were survivors from HMS Bonadventure when she was sunk some months ago, are now reported missing presumed killed on active service. They are William Maclean, 33 Geilir, Bayble, and Kenneth Donald Macleod, Croistean House, Stornoway.
William was a native of Borve, but after his marriage made his home in Bayble where he was very popular.
Kenneth, who was aged 22, was injured when HMS Bonadventure was sunk and was in hospital for a time, but he was soon back on board ship. As a lad he had worked in various shops in town, and prior to the war he was in the Merchant Services, and had sailed for a year on the Doric Star.
He was called up as a naval reservist on the outbreak of war, and had just one opportunity of visiting home. Deep sympathy is extended to his parents and the other members of the family in their bereavement.
